Carol O'Connor, BA, RMT
Carol graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, with honours in 2006. Since founding Queen Street Wellness with her partners in July 06, Carol has also embarked on the study of nutrition to enhance her knowledge and approach to her clients' health. Of the many excellent therapies out there, Carol believes that massage is the most well recognized and trusted among the population. She encourages her clients to keep an open mind when it comes to their health, trying different strategies for wellness in their whole being. From deep tissue to gentle stress-reducing massage, Carol is usually able to provide what her clients are looking for.
Carol holds a Level 1 certificate as a Tai Chi Instructor, recognized by the Canadian Taijiquan Federation. She also practises and teaches Qi Gong for meditation and health. Other certificates include Reflexology, Healthy Breast Training and Reiki. She is currently developing seminars on breast health for adult and teen-aged women.
Carol also practices cupping. To learn more, watch this video from a recent episode of "The Doctors." Note that in applying this technique, Carol does not draw blood or use flames.
Born in Kitchener, Carol travelled with her family until resettling here in 1972. After Cameron Heights, Carol worked on a music degree at the University of Waterloo. She got “lost” in Vienna in 1982 during one of Dr. Wilbur Maust's Music and Culture courses (met a guy...). Together they lived in Vienna, London and Munich until returning home again in 1998. Before massage therapy her career dabbling covered accounting, interior design, mothering, teaching and administration.
After the loss of her mother in 2004, Carol decided to settle down and do something more important and dearer to her to honour her mother's memory. She selected massage therapy for its capacity to help people on a one to one basis, much like her mother had done with her nursing career.
So here we are. Carol is a mature and caring therapist, whether you need a hard elbow or gentle touch approach. When she can't figure it out, she'll refer you to someone who can.
