Blake Neibert: Anatomy and Locomotion

RMT Master Class Series: October 13, 2007

Muscular anatomy is traditionally taught in pieces. This approach, while necessary for the individual to grasp the copious quantity of material, leaves one with a static and un-unified view of the body. As therapists, we need to see the continuity of the various myofascial structures and understand their impact on the function of the locomotor system. This course focuses on the connectedness and continuity of muscles via their anatomical attachments to bony projections, ligaments, and other connective tissues.

Blake Neibert received his degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario in 1992. In 1996 he became a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. He has been involved with teaching in the Massage field for the past 11 years, performing a variety of tasks from classroom instruction to school administration and curriculum development. Blake has devoted significant time continuing his education in the areas of anatomy, biomechanics, and advanced therapeutic techniques. Currently, he is the Massage Therapy Program Coordinator for Medix Schools.
