By the time a Massage Therapist graduates in Ontario he or she will have 2200 hours of clinical training, including 170 hours of supervised hands-on clinical practice. Among the courses represented are Anatomy & Physiology, Regional Anatomy, Neurology, Pathology, Orthopedic Assessments, Palpation, Massage Theory and Treatment Techniques, Kinesiology, Research and Case Studies. This provides for a very solid, albeit preliminary, grounding in the musculoskeletal system as well as an understanding of underlying disease processes, and the role that massage may have, including contraindications to massage for specific conditions.

Many of the potential course participants will be fairly new graduates with 2000 hours of theory still fresh in their minds. What we are looking for in seminars for this audience is a high calibre, lecture style session that will help therapists build on what they have already learned. Topics can be anything that could help an RMT build their knowledge and practice. They may be complete ideas in themselves, or a thorough introduction to a longer course, offered somewhere locally, as long as participants come away with something valuable.

Other professional health practitioners are invited to attend, as topics will also include those modalities included in the Category A and B lists proposed by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. These may be of interest to, or in the scope of practice of other health care professionals.

Timetable is proposed as:
8:00 - 8:30 registration
8:30 - 10:00 lecture
10:00 - 10:20 break
10:30 - 12:00 lecture
12:00 - 12:30 break out and questions

Speaker fee is proposed as $500.

Once a speaker is approved and confirmed, a short bio of the speaker and abstract for the course are required. These will be posted on the website and remain archived.
